My name is Jim and I provide both online, and face to face counselling in my home town of Moodiesburn. I am a fully qualified and recognised Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, accredited to the National Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Society.
My passion when working with clients is to help relieve emotional stress and suffering, to enhance both their mental and emotional wellbeing.
In our work together we can gain insights into your past, how this affects the present and how, when not challenged, this can affect your future.
I provide a safe, comfortable and relaxed environment to explore what you needed in the past, were not given, and how you can provide this for yourself now.
Your past cannot be changed but you can be empowered to take control of your future.
This community is my primary target - to provide support to a severely underrepresented group.
I understand that many adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) are encountered by the LGBTQIA+ community.
I welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, including non-binary, queer, intersex, asexual people, and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella.
I can help you work through experiences relating to your sexual or identity without fear or discrimination or questioning.
I can also work with relationship issues; gender or sexual identity issues; self-confidence and self-esteem; abuse and bullying; coming out; depression and anxiety; sexual issues; isolation.

Psychodynamic therapy helps you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences and your unconscious mind and impulses.
I will encourage you to talk freely about whatever comes to mind. This is known as free association. You can talk openly, honestly and without being judged.

Humanistic therapy, also known as the humanistic approach, is an umbrella term that covers several types of therapy, including person-centred therapy, Gestalt, existential therapy, solution-focused therapy and transactional analysis.
The therapy is client-led, I will work with you on the issues you want to explore. They’ll help you think about your feelings and take responsibility for your thoughts and actions.
Your therapy may be short or long-term, depending on your needs.

CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a negative cycle.
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.
You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.
Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past.
It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.
I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist and Ican include this within sessions.
Hypnotherapy (sometimes called hypnotic suggestion) is a therapeutic practice that uses guided hypnosis to help a client reach a trance-like state of focus, concentrated, diminished peripheral awareness, and heightened suggestibility. This state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's own thoughts or meditations.
In it, a person is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but they are not under anyone’s “control.”
Instead, a trained hypnotherapist can help clients in this state relax and turn their attention inward to discover and utilise resources within themselves that can help them achieve desired behavioural changes or better manage pain or other physical concerns.
